THE CHIMPANZEES
The chimpanzees in future
ape society by and large are at the lower rungs of the
socioeconomic ladder. While they are often in important
positions such as researchers, doctors, and
archaeologists, they have no real say in political
matters of Ape society. In politics it seems the
Orangautaun's govern, and the Gorillas enforce the laws.
The chimps are used as taxpayers and subjects of their
own goverment and little more. This social arrangement is
ironic considering that the storyline from the 3rd,
fourth, and last movies of the Planet of the Apes saga
tells a story of chimpanzees leading the great revolt
against man. The great leader of the revolt was Ceasar
and in a future world of Apes and Humans he governs as
king. Except for Ceasar no other Chimpanzee ever really
had power. The Chimpanzees are represented in the Apes
saga by veternary doctor and researcher Zira and her
husband Cornelius played by Roddy McDowall. Mcdowall
played chimp characters in each of the Apes movies and in
many ways the chimp characters of McDowall were the one
force the unified all of the Apes movies and provided a
sense of continuity. *Also See Roddy Mcdowell's Characters from the Saga
